چکیده

A monolithic 5.2-GHz single-ended-in and single-endedout Gilbert upconverter with balanced operation is demonstrated using 0.18m deep n-well CMOS technology. The fully matched Gilbert upconverter has conversion gain of 11.5 dB and OP1dB of 19 dBm when input IF 300 MHz, LO 4.9 GHz, and output RF 5.2 GHz. The IF input return loss is better than 14 dB for frequencies up to 7 GHz, while RF output return loss is 15 dB at 5.2 GHz. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Modeling of Substrate Noise Impact on a Single-Ended Cascode LNA in a Lightly Doped Substrate (RESEARCH NOTE)

Substrate noise generated by digital circuits on mixed-signal ICs can disturb the sensitiveanalog/RF circuits, such as Low Noise Amplifier (LNA), sharing the same substrate. This paperinvestigates the adverse impact of the substrate noise on a high frequency cascode LNA laid out on alightly doped substrate. By studying the major noise coupling mechanisms, a new and efficientmodeling method is p...

A Low Voltage Low Power 5.7 GHz Variable Gain LNA in 0.18 um CMOS Technology

This paper presents a 2.4 GHz 0.18 μm CMOS single-ended Variable Gain Low noise Amplifier (VGLNA). The circuit is suitable for low voltage, low power operation, uses a current-reuse topology to increase linear gain and save power consumption. The common-source gain stages are stacked for minimum power dissipation while maintaining high gain. The VGLNA exhibits noise figure less than 3 dB and ga...

A 5.7 GHz 0.35 m SiGe Micromixer with a Matched Current Combin

This paper demonstrates a small compact 5.7 GHz upconversion Gilbert micromixer using 0.35 m SiGe HBT technology. A micromixer has a broadband matched single-ended input port. A passive LC current combiner is used to convert micromixer differential output into a singleended output and doubles the output current for singleended-input and single-ended-output applications. Thus, a truly balanced o...

Ultra-Wideband, Low-Power, Inductorless, 3.1-4.8 GHz, CMOS VCO

A low-power, inductorless, UWB CMOS voltage controlled oscillator is designed in 0.18 μm CMOS technology targeting to a UWBFM transmitter application. The VCO is a Double-Cross-Coupled Multivibrator and generates output frequencies ranging from 1.55 GHz to 2.4 GHz. A low-power frequency doubler based on a Gilbert cell, which operates in weak inversion, doubles the VCO tuning range from 3.1 GHz ...

A 1.6 mW 5.4 GHz transformer-feedback gm-boosted current-reuse LNA in 0.18/μm CMOS

Delivering high gain, low noise and good linearity simultaneously with low power consumption in fully-integrated CMOS low noise amplifiers (LNAs) has posed significant difficulty. This paper presents a 19 dB gain, 2.4 dB noise figure, common-gate common-source (CG-CS) single-ended LNA operating at 5.4 GHz. Using gm-boosting, current-reuse and transformer feedback techniques, the LNA mitigates s...
